"The Wealth of Wisdom" “Blessed be the Lord your God who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel!” 1 Kings 10 If we only knew today the riches available to us in Christ Jesus. The storehouse of heaven is overflowing today, loved one. Many times our needs go unmet this side of heaven simply because we fail to ask God for help and guidance. Oh to have the wisdom of God! 1 Kings 3:11-13 reminds us why Solomon received all the blessings of material wealth from the Lord when it says, “Then God said to him: "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.” I believe it was D.L. Moody who once said, "Make earth your aim and you receive nothing, make heaven your aim and you get the world thrown in." It must have been overwhelming to the people who saw the amount of wealth that Solomon possessed as king over Israel. Bill Gates pales in comparison to what Solomon had at his disposal. The queen of Sheba upon meeting Solomon was so impressed with the wealth of knowledge that Solomon possessed she gave him even more gifts to add to his wealth. Proof once and again that what we should desire wisdom more than Gold. I have heard many stories of people winning millions playing the lottery only to end up broke from squandering it away for a lack of wisdom. Money is not the cure for all of life’s problems, beloved, as much as in our lack of wisdom we might think. The queen of Sheba herself recognizes the greatest gift that Solomon possessed was not his material wealth but the wealth that comes from God above. Oh that you and I would seek His presence more than His presents, loved one, and learn to love the giver more than the gifts we receive. Solomon was blessed of God financially more than any man before him or any man who has come after him and as the queen noted true happiness comes from wisdom and not from possessions when she noted how happy Solomon’s servants who stand before him and hear his wisdom are. Happiness is a choice and is not determined by what we have or don’t have. Do you want true happiness today, beloved? Set your heart to gain understanding and the wisdom of the Lord knowing you are wealthy in Jesus beyond your wildest imagination. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7 I LOVE YOU! |
